Independent spending soars for some groups

Some associations are spending fast and furious on key congressional races in the final weeks before the election. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported spending more than $15 million on radio and television buys since the beginning of September, mostly on ads opposing Democrats. Top targets include Senate candidates Tim Kaine in Virginia, Florida incumbent Bill Nelson and Maine Independent Angus King.
